We weren't always called HOME Church — for a long time, we didn't have a name. We only named it because, over time, we realised we needed to call it something. HOME Church is a deliberate play on words. It describes who we are, our origin, our mission, our values, and our vision.

Where it began

HOME Church honours where it all began — in someone's home. For us, God started His work in a house setting, not in a church building. This illustrates what John 14:23 states: that God wants to make "His home" with us — that we don't need a fancy building to lure God in, but that God invites Himself to where He is loved.

Our mission

We want to make and mature disciples, and we believe that the most important context for Christian discipleship is one's home. Home is where we are most authentic — most true to ourselves. If we are not Christian at home, are we Christian at all? The home is the most challenging environment in which to live out Christianity and, therefore, in our view, the most important.

Our vision

We believe God is raising up a generation to dedicate their houses to the Lord — to give them as places of meeting. Such a house becomes the foundation of parenting, where children grow up in the presence of the Lord. It becomes a home where Christians share a meal and see their dining table turned into the Lord's table.

Our culture

Just as we can be ourselves when we are in our own home, so can people be themselves at HOME Church. We genuinely embrace and leverage our diversity. HOME also describes God's mission through our church — to bring people back home. HOME represents a place for those who are spiritually homeless to find community again.

The mission of HOME Church is rooted in the commission of Jesus to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:18-20) and in Paul's desire for every Christian to grow in maturity (Ephesians 4:13).

The nature of discipleship

Strong trees are formed over long periods and in adverse conditions. Strong metal is forged under extreme heat. In the same way, strong disciples are made through a long and often difficult process. No one becomes a disciple alone — a disciple cannot endure the challenges of formation in isolation. Maturity requires time. There is no shortcut.

How Jesus modelled it

Jesus trained twelve at a time. He focused especially on three. He lived with His disciples for three years. He recruited from various trades, creating a diverse group. Their discipleship continued long after — through the Holy Spirit, who would guide them for the rest of their lives.

The way of discipleship today

We join a community of believers. We form various pairs and small groups. We recognise seasons of discipleship and make the most of the time we have. We intentionally surround ourselves with people we trust — yet who are different from us. We embrace failure and marry humility.

Why

At HOME Church, we strongly believe in the importance of every disciple actively making more disciples. You don't need to be a pastor or have formal theological education. If there is something in your life that helps you follow The Way (John 14:6), you already have something valuable to share.

Discipleship, though hard, is designed to bring us joy — not hardship. Making disciples is one of the greatest privileges we have. There is no greater joy than seeing another person experience the fruit of what you've helped them discover.

How

What is modelled is multiplied. We live our lives as examples for others. At HOME Church, we call this Model X. New Christians need older Christians worth following.

At some point, someone has to say: "Lifeless religion, reckless finances — these end in my generation." And: "Adventure with God, a life of service — these start with me."

The five areas

We need men and women who will model discipleship in five key areas of life:

Faith

Faith is the outworking of trust. Everyone exercises faith all the time. But to please God, we must learn to exercise faith in Him. Faith can be learned, borrowed, and imparted. The faith of others can ignite our own.

Family

God designed the family. Family life should be modelled for others. No family is perfect, but every family can positively influence others. Marriage creates a new family — one that requires leaving something precious to form something new.

Finances

The love of money is one of the biggest reasons hot Christians grow lukewarm. Money itself is not evil — it is a tool. We must model financial stewardship so that our children learn to make money a blessing, not a curse.

Fitness

Every year after age 33 is a privilege — Jesus only lived 33 years. If God grants us more years, we should steward our bodies for His glory. Health is not to be idolised — it is to be utilised for God.

Friendships

The disciples were not Jesus' childhood friends — they began as strangers. Friendship should be a goal in life. Following Jesus' model, a healthy person has about three people with whom they share mountaintop experiences. Friendship is like a blanket — you may not think you need it, but when the night comes, you'll be glad it's there.

Making disciples begins with relationships — and often, it begins with a meal. Most people are introduced to HOME Church not through a worship service, but around a table. Members invite friends over for dinner, or host gatherings where newcomers can meet others from HOME.

This is also why our Easter and Christmas services centre around shared meals rather than performances. Sharing food matters to us. Playing games matters to us. Making disciples starts with making friends.

You don't need to do much to make disciples — you simply need to decide to walk with others. Whether they're younger, the same age, or older than you, you can choose to share life and truth together.

True Christian leaders don't draw people to themselves — they lead people to the Lord, not only for salvation but for every area of life and faith.

Maturity requires people. It can't be learned from a book — it's built through experience. Most of our growth happens in community, through relationships, conversations, and shared challenges.

Belonging to a church is one of the first big steps on the path to maturity. Whether it's maintaining a close friendship, joining a short-term team, serving in a ministry, or stepping into leadership — each of these environments shapes us.

Maturity comes through experience. Patience can't be learned through a webinar — it's learned when we're forced to wait. Real growth happens when we recognise that our responses are not yet like Christ's.

At HOME Church, the process of discipleship can be summarised in four simple stages:

Belong

Almost everyone knows someone who used to go to church. Many have left and become spiritually homeless. Those who join HOME Church are usually not looking for the best Sunday service — they are looking for genuine Christian community. People they can trust.

Many newcomers spend six to twelve months simply attending meals, celebrations, and casual gatherings before ever setting foot in a Sunday service. We want people to know us before they join us.

Believe

At HOME Church, we believe following Jesus is the greatest adventure a person can live. The currency of God's Kingdom is faith — those who exercise faith are the richest in the Kingdom.

Build

Some things simply can't be done alone. God designed us to need one another. We are called to choose people to love, encourage, and build up.

Bless

If life is only about accumulation, faith eventually fades. We need to convert earthly currency into eternal value through good works. Money, when surrendered to God, becomes a powerful tool of love.
